Healthcare: Resurgence

Resurgence is an Ambulatory Surgery Center, located in Charlotte, North Carolina. The primary focus was to deliver a holistic and humanized approach to wellness and care throughout the surgery center and multi-specialty clinic. In developing the design concept and most influential elements for its users, importance was placed on the use of biophilic and restorative principles. With these drivers, in addition to the overall culture of an ASC including workflow, staff communication, overall wellness, and patient care; the outcome was to draw inspiration from the ecosystem and diversity of a Coral Reef. Elements that transpired as an effect include connective wave-like curves, variations in textures, and day lighting, which is the source of energy for the coral reef. Altogether, the space promotes vitality, regeneration and ultimately the promise of life.
